As I begin my sabbatical I just finalised arrangements to visit to the Franciscan Friary where I volunteered one day a week whilst serving with Time for God back in 1990-91! I've had a delightful chat with the vicar of the local church, St Philip & St James in Plaistow East London, who enjoy a close relationship with the friary, and she has invited me to go along with her to the Friary to attend the Friday communion service there. This is a service attended by both the brothers and the rest of the community and is followed by a cuppa and a welcome to lunch.It feels really good to be going back to visit and I'm looking forward to sharing in worship and fellowship with the brothers. I'll also have an opportunity to catch up with one of the brothers, Brother Julian, who was there in when I was a volunteer and is still a part of the community today!
