On my way!

I'm at the airport and waiting to board my first flight. I have a layover at Frankfurt so despite departing in about half an hour I won't get to Rome til around 6pm. Having felt quite anxious all of yesterday I'm now feeling a mix of nerves combined with excitement because I'm finally on my way.

I remain connected to a WhatsApp group of friends from my church in Gloucester and every day one or more Bible verses are posted. Today's verses are Hebrews 11:8-10:

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

The lady who posted this has no idea how significant this is to me today! But I will endeavour to let her know sometime!

Verse 8 in particular links rather well with the fact that the pilgrims prayer I posted the other day references Abraham, and also that way back God sent me to Redcliffe College using the phrase "Just go" from Genesis 12:1:

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

So although I am feeling the nerves, these  connections have given me a real assurance that I am doing what God has asked of me.
