The morning is bright with a chill in the air. The sun is struggling through the clouds, and the mist hangs low and heavy over the lake.
With this vista in front of me I stood in the cool morning air and prayed the pilgrims prayer. A moment to treasure!
I have a long days walk ahead of me today. Bret Thomas suggests this is one of the most challenging sections due to the 700m climb ahead of me to an altitude of 1000m! Now I've typed that I feel a tad daunted!! But on the first day of walking last Monday I achieved something similar, so that gives me hope! And now I've been walking for a whole week so hopefully the legs and lungs are a bit more conditioned! (Though I still found the climbs yesterday - firstly outside Marmore and then up from the falls - quite challenging!) Going to go slow and steady I think!
It's also possible I will be out of range of internet at points on the trail (accidentally typed trial - which may actually be more appropriate 🤣) so prayers for safety appreciated.
Will set off shortly and will be on the look for encouragements from my pilgrim brothers ahead of me!
